I mean seriously, who has $5,000 to spend on a single piece of furniture much less $14,000. I don't know about you, but I think these luxury prices are getting a little out of hand.

Thankfully however, we don't have to feel left out of the luxury home decor clique because crafty creators have figured out budget-safe ways to build high-end furniture dupes . You don't need thousands of dollars or insurance it case it falls over. You just need a trip to IKEA.

TikTok creator Naomi ( @naomi__vizcaino ) is a self-proclaimed "hobby addict" and she will tackle just about any type of DIY, from knitting projects to jewelry making. This time she decided to set her artistic sights high and recreate a multi-thousand dollar item that she's been eyeing on the internet.

    What Is the Waste Collection?

If you're a lover of luxury furniture and interior design, then chances are you've seen Naomi's exact inspiration. The iconic Waste Collection by sustainable Dutch designer Piet Hein Eek is comprised of recycled wood furniture, from desks and tables to bed frames and cabinets. Eek uses scrap wood and remnants of industrial steel to decorate these items with a tiled aesthetic and while most of the items are labeled as Price Upon Request, most of them are thousands of dollars, some as high as $27,000.

While a huge fan of Eek's work, Naomi knew she had nowhere near the budget to purchase one of his designs so instead she headed to her local IKEA to find the perfect ingredient for the perfect dupe.

As it turns out, the IKEA IVAR cabinet is a great alternative for the Waste Collection cabinet and for the scrap tiles, Naomi picked up 18 square feet of varying wood veneers from Amazon.

After putting together the IVAR, Naomi started the tedious process of cutting the tiles out of the wood veneer, opting for 2 inch by 3 7/8 of an inch for each one with an 1/8 inch space in between. To apply the tiles, she opted to use wood glue and a clothing iron to seal the veneer pieces down.

While perhaps a more tedious project, Naomi only spend about $150 for this entire cabinet. What a success!
