It seems like every time we turn around, someone has come up with a creative new use for an IKEA piece—one we'd never have expected. Enter TikTok creator , aka @LoneFoxHome, who has taken IKEA hacking to a whole new level with his ingenious transformation of Moppes storage boxes.

I decided to mix two of my favorite things, wood & stripes into one stunning little wall cabinet! I’ve seen these IKEA moppes storage boxes for a while and always wanted to create something with them. The little #diy handles are just the perfect addition to the drawers 🤎 ps. I added two small D rings to the backside to hang it on the wall

Moppes , for the uninitiated, are essentially pine wood storage boxes that come from everyone's favorite Swedish furniture store. On their own, they're functional but nothing to write home about. However, Drew saw potential in these basic boxes and decided to turn them into the cutest wall storage you've ever seen!

In his viral TikTok video, Drew walked us through the process step by step. First, he gathered three Moppes boxes and glued them together using some wood glue. Simple enough, right? But here's where it gets interesting. Drew flipped the drawers around so that the usual tab in the front was hidden, creating a smooth surface perfect for customization.

To add a bit of flair, Drew decided to create a stripe pattern on the front of the cabinets. He used one piece of tape as a template, applying it to the surface and then removing it to place the next piece, ensuring evenly spaced stripes. Once the entire surface was taped off, Drew stained the boxes with a beautiful oak finish. According to him, the whole staining process took just about an hour—quick and easy!

Of course, the pièce de résistance was removing all those pieces of tape to reveal the stunning striped pattern underneath. This part is oddly satisfying to watch, like peeling a sticker off a brand-new gadget.

But Drew didn't stop there. He wanted to add some unique knobs to these cabinets. For this, he used wooden beads dipped in dark wood stain and tied some jute cord through them. He created a simple yet charming design by tying knots and threading the cord through the beads. To make sure each knob was perfectly placed, he used a folded piece of paper as a template to drill holes in the drawers. Once the holes were drilled, he strung the cords through, tied them at the back, and voila! Custom knobs that added the perfect finishing touch.

The end result? An Instagram-worthy wall cabinet that's not only functional but also a conversation starter. If this DIY project has inspired you to try your hand at some IKEA hacking, we highly recommend following Drew's tutorial. It's a fun and rewarding way to add a personal touch to your home.
