    Video: Gas station canopy falls onto car during severe weather in Chester County

    CHESTER COUNTY, S.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — A Chester County gas station and one unlucky vehicle sustained damage following severe weather Sunday night.

    Heavy rain and straight-line winds made their way across the Queen City News viewing area Sunday, June 9, initiating Severe Thunderstorm Warnings across several local counties.

    In Fort Lawn, a local Marathon Gas Station was seriously damaged. The roof over the gas station pumps collapsed on top of a person’s vehicle. Thankfully no injuries have been reported.

    The National Weather Service reports winds reached 80 mph during Sunday’s storms.

    On Monday morning, we were still dealing with scattered showers across portions of Upstate South Carolina, but the wet weather cleared out following ample sunshine Monday afternoon.

    Highs today will be in the mid-80s along with falling humidity.

    Tuesday will be another comfortable day for the Carolinas with highs in the mid-80s but starting Wednesday, and continuing the rest of the week, temps will climb into the 90s.
