Summer Game Fest: All The Big Reveals From Ubisoft Forward 2024!

As Summer Game Fest 2024 continues to march forward, another big showcase — The Ubisoft Forward — aired today and they brought what’s in store for fans in the future, and Ubisoft Forward has given massive gameplay demos for Star Wars Outlaws and Assassin’s Creed Shadows .

After all of the excitement brought thus far from Summer Game Fest’s opening night live , and the massive Xbox showcase that aired yesterday, there is still more fun at the massive SGF 2024 annual celebration. Today, another big showcase has aired live to give fans a look behind the curtain at another developer’s plans for the upcoming year and beyond. Below is a look at everything revealed at the Summer Game Fest 2024 Ubisoft Forward presentation, and of course, Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Star Wars Outlaws were shown in under a microscope to prep for their launches later in the year.

Star Wars Outlaws Gameplay @ Summer Game Fest 2024

Starting off hot, the Ubisoft Forward at Summer Game Fest 2024 kicked off things with a brand new gameplay trailer for Star Wars Outlaws . The game director, Mathias Karlson, showed many of the elements behind the scenes, including the menu and abilities screens. The Scoundrel main character, Kay Vess, has many talents that can be improved from this menu, and skills like lockpicking can be improved as well.

Remnants from the Star Wars film franchise can be seen everywhere, and wreckages from the Clone Wars are scattered around. Star Wars fans will be pleased to note that these Easter Eggs are everywhere.

When boarding the ship, it appears as though going from walking around aboard a space station and boarding The Trailblazer (the name of our heroine’s ship) is seamless, and vice versa for landing. This demo gave fans a crisp look at ship combat, and it is smooth and easy to understand. Surprisingly, the UI remains uncluttered during these segments, and jumping to distant planets is equally as seamless.

After finishing a dogfight in space (complete with a 180-degree turn that would make Han Solo himself blush), the heroine Kay Vess is seen walking the desert streets of Tattooine. The player will be tasked on picking up intel items and pieces of information to further questlines, and good sources of information can be local Cantinas. The player can gain or lose reputation based on their actions, so it’s important to know which is which. Reputation is everything in Outlaws , so it’s up to the player to determine which loyalties are worth more or less during gameplay.

During a particularly stealthy section in the Hutt Territory on Tattooine, (it’s important to stay vigilant on which area you’re in, Hutt Territory is considered hostile, and you will get shot on sight) you can deploy a small companion creature named Nix who can not only distract unsuspecting sentries, but he can sense where enemies are which gives you a leg up on your opponents. Land vehicles are also an important part of gameplay, and the main character can be seen riding a speeder, but sadly swoop racing hasn’t been confirmed. The gameplay overview can be seen just below.

XDefiant Season One @ Summer Game Fest 2024

The new first-person breakneck shooter has announced that Capture the Flag will be coming to XDefiant , and so will new rank leaderboard modes. Season One is coming on July 1 ^st .

Skull & Bones Update @ Summer Game Fest 2024

Based on the feedback presented from players during season one, Season two seeks to right the ship with a new ship, and a new Megalodon shark monster to contend against. Skull & Bones has also included new ship racing modes and fleet management options to give players more ways to sail the treacherous seas.

New ship upgrades can provide more firepower for aspiring pirates, as a new sea lord looms to take over when season three lands. A flying mythical dragon can be fought in season three, a first for Skull & Bones and Ubisoft sea-based warfare when it launches.

Prince of Persia 35 ^th Anniversary @ Summer Game Fest 2024

To celebrate the 35 ^th anniversary of the iconic Prince of Persia franchise, Ubisoft Monpellier has revealed a free content update for Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown , which will allow players to revisit boss fights and will provide new amulets for players to find. Most importantly, new divine trials will be available for the player to contend against.

A new story DLC is also coming in September 2024 for Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown .

The Rogue Prince of Persia has only been available in Early Access for one week and Ubisoft has revealed The Temple of Fire update is coming soon.

Finally, to cap off the Prince of Persia 35 ^th anniversary news, Ubisoft has revealed Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake will launch in 2026 at Summer Game Fest.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora – The Sky Breaker Trailer

At the Ubisoft Forward, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora has revealed a new story pack is on the way and it will be called The Sky Breaker . The new DLC launches on July 16.

The Crew Motorfest Update @ Summer Game Fest

The Crew Motorfest has revealed what they have in store for racers for season four, which doubles as the ending of year one in The Crew Motorfest . The end of season four will be all about car customization and options to increase car viability. But, the upcoming season five will offer the brand new Hawaiian Island, Maui to explore for drivers, and the season updates will be free to players who already have the base game including the new area.

Racers will also have to contend with The Chase Squad when that future content launches with season five come November 2024. Racers will have to contend with ‘the Hound’ then.

Anno 117: Pax Romana @ Summer Game Fest 2024

Ubisoft Forward then brought a surprise announcement, the next title in the Anno series is coming in 2025. A fan-favourite requested location, Pax Romana, has finally been featured in the Anno series and revealed at Summer Game Fest. Ubisoft will have more information for players as 2025 draws closer.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows First Gameplay Reveal @ Summer Game Fest 2024

As fans have undoubtedly seen the reveal trailer for the latest Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Ubisoft Forward has given fans a look under the hood for the first time, and has shown off some exciting gameplay for the new two protagonist duo, Yasuke and the shinobi from the mountains of Higa, Naoe. While Yasuke has a strong combat focus, Naoe is a more stealthy combatant and functions well in the shade.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows features a season change mechanic, so if snow has fallen, enemies can notice details like footprints, and Ubisoft gave a glimpse of this gameplay at Summer Game Fest 2024.

The first look of gameplay showed the bouncy weight of Yasuke riding a horse and walking through civilization. First and foremost, when a dog confronts the main character in the village, you can pet the dog.

As Yasuke confronts a local villager, she gives him a task after saying how distrustful locals are of authority. In this Edo Period, locals are squeezed harshly for taxes, and the weight of that burden is felt as everyone feels divided. Poverty and beauty flood the streets, and even small disturbances can be confronted.

After drawing his weapon near a sentry blocking the road, they take it as an act of aggression and immediately cross blades with Yasuke. Yasuke uses a massive war club weapon, and a katana on his waist to cross swords with adversaries.

After dispatching a group of enemies another charges Yasuke, and the Shinobio Naoe jumps out of the shadows and instantly kills the charging assailant. To further the questline of killing Lord Hayashi, a choice is given to continue the story as Yasuke (rush in and fight) or Naoe (stealthily invade and kill the target), and echoes of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate ’s dual protagonist system can be seen here.

Naoe deploys many (if not all) of the tricks deployed by other Assassin’s Creed protagonists, she can distract, rappel up buildings, throw items, and assassinate sentries to push forward while sticking to the shadows. Naoe can stealthily assassinate enemies through walls by stabbing through them directly. The walls are paper, and Ubisoft allows players to kill through them.

Naoe uses stealth mechanics to assassinate her target and Ubisoft allows her to crawl through murky water to get the job done. Naoe can even use a bamboo shoot to breathe air while submerged. While confronting the main enemies, she whips out a stone-and-sling like David and can keep a group of enemies at bay skillfully, and after retreating from the Lord’s grounds, the demo ends.
