The St. John Celebration kicked off on June 8 with Pan-O-Rama and will feature a month-long series of events, including the Princess, Jr. Miss, and Queen Pageants, a Food Fair, and thrilling Boat Races. Commissioner Joseph Boschulte expressed enthusiasm for the 70th annual celebration, which also marks the 126th commemoration of the Virgin Islands Emancipation.

“We are excited to share this year’s schedule as we continue to grow our cultural events and welcome more visitors to join in the festivities,” Boschulte said in a press release.

One of the most anticipated events is the grand opening of the Celebration Children’s and Festival Villages on June 28, located just steps from the Cruz Bay ferry dock. The festival village will offer seven nights of free, world-class entertainment, headlined by international superstar Wyclef Jean. Other notable performers include Kes the Band, Patrice Roberts, Dexta Daps, Pumpa, Mr. Killa, Bunji Garlin, Fay-Ann Lyons, Lyrikal, Asa Bantan, Adam O, Richie Spice, Nadia Batson, and Cool Session.

Ian Turnbull, Director of Festivals, shared the excitement of showcasing St. John’s rich cultural history to the world. “Together with our local partners and volunteers, we are excited for the launch of the 2024 St. John Celebration,” Turnbull stated.

The celebration will also feature traditional events such as J’ouvert, Emancipation Day Programming, the Torch Light Parade, and Parade Day, all culminating in the annual fireworks display over Cruz Bay harbor on July 4th.

This year, the Division of Festivals will honor several community pillars who embody St. John’s rich culture and elegance:

    • Celebration Village Honoree: Ms. Gwenda Dagou
    • Celebration Food Fair Honoree: Ms. Margaret Sayer
    • Celebration Parade Marshalls: St. John Past Royalties
