Person killed in Monongalia County wreck was ATV driver

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) — An ATV driver was killed in a head-on collision on Grafton Road Monday.

According to a press release from the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office, the ATV was traveling south on Grafton Road near the intersection of Horseman’s Trail when a pickup truck that was traveling north went into the southbound lane to pass other vehicles and hit the ATV head-on.

The release said that the ATV driver, who was described as male, died at the scene from his injuries. No other identifying information was released.

The collision is still under investigation, according to the sheriff’s office.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) — One person is dead following a vehicle accident Monday afternoon on U.S. Route 119 in Monongalia County.

According to an official with the Monongalia County 911 Center, at about 3:45, crews were alerted to a vehicle accident on U.S. Route 119 near the Monongalia-Taylor county line.

The official said one person was killed in the wreck, and multiple other people were taken to the hospital by ground for treatment of their injuries. The official was unable to specify the type of vehicles involved.

The official did not provide a cause behind the wreck but did say the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office is investigating this incident. The identity of the person killed has also not been released.

Crews from the Clinton District Volunteer Fire Department, Triune-Haleck Volunteer Fire Department, Mon EMS and the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office responded to this call.
