After a tough 3-0 loss to the Florida Panthers in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final, the Edmonton Oilers made some notable changes to their lineup for Game 2. One of them involved former Tampa Bay Lightning forward Corey Perry.

The Oilers elected to scratch Perry in Game 2 and inserted Sam Carrick in the lineup as his replacement.

Perry notably only received 8:45 of ice time in Game 1 against the Panthers. Because of this and the Oilers suffering a tough loss, perhaps this decision is not the most surprising. It also doesn't help that Perry's offense has dried up immensely this postseason.

Perry, 39, has appeared in 14 games for the Oilers this postseason, posting one assist and a minus-3 rating. While he has been impactful by agitating opponents, his offensive production just has not been there. Let's see if he gets put back into the lineup in Game 3 and has a big bounce-back performance in response to being scratched.
