By Heather Bien,

The past several years brought a lot of inflation. Prices rose on everything from eggs to milk, gas to cars, and clothing to medicine, making it tough to get ahead financially .
Thankfully, some major retailers are finally getting the memo that consumer spending isn’t sustainable unless prices come down. With excess merchandise piling up, there is motivation to start moving products — and that is good news for consumers.
Here are the nine major retailers where you can count on seeing prices begin to drop.
Want to save money on groceries ? With locations in 39 states, Aldi is known for being a go-to for budget-friendly groceries. The retailer is solidifying that reputation by offering customers $100 million in savings through Labor Day.
You will find lower prices on all your summer essentials, from barbecue items to travel snacks and picnic favorites.
Walmart is making major price rollbacks on many of its products, including dry groceries and consumables.
The retailer has always been known for low prices, but this year, it will reduce costs on 50% more items year over year.

Michaels is dropping prices on 5,000 items across many categories in its arts and craft stores.
You can now save on art supplies, frames, home items, and seasonal decor. You will also find lower prices on back-to-school necessities such as paint, pens, and markers.
Regional grocery chain Giant Food is recognizing the need to offer lower prices on its already affordable private-label food brands.
From Giant brand products to organic Nature’s Promise and toiletries from CareOne, you will find savings on generic products. You also get two points for every dollar you spend on private-label purchases if you are a member of the loyalty program.

Ikea says lower costs on transportation and raw materials allow it to pass those savings along to customers. Prices will drop on thousands of products by the end of 2025.

Walgreens isn’t discriminating between generic and name-brand products in its cost-cutting measures.
The retailer is luring customers back to the store with savings on vitamins, toiletries, and more. Prices have already dropped on 1,500 items.

One of the best shopping hacks for Amazon is to purchase groceries through Amazon Fresh. Amazon is cutting prices on 4,000 grocery items, some by up to 30%.
The retailer is also offering Prime members up to 20% off hundreds of other grocery items that are on sale.
To optimize savings at these major retailers, try to “stack” your discounts by making purchases during no-tax days, which many states schedule ahead of the new school year.
From July to September, you might find sales tax holidays on products in a variety of categories. This is your chance to increase your savings and further boost your finances.
