(Red Oak) Opponents to the proposed Summit Carbon Solutions Pipeline filled the Montgomery County Supervisor boardroom on Tuesday morning. During the public comment period, the speakers consisted of most property owners affected by the pipeline’s proposed route. The speakers discussed the need for the supervisors to have an open discussion on the pipeline on next week’s agenda.

One of the many speakers was Jan Norris of West Township, who stated that Montgomery County needs to discuss the issues with this proposed pipeline.

A property owner in West Township also urged the supervisors to place the pipeline discussion on next week’s agenda.

The conversation became heated when it came time to start the agenda items for next week. Supervisor Randy Cooper suggested that the pipeline be placed on next week’s agenda; however, supervisor chair Mike Olson disagreed.

Supervisor Donna Robinson suggested having all parties, including the representatives from Sumit Carbon Solutions, attend the meeting.

It wasn’t set in stone on whether to place the discussion on next week’s agenda, mainly due to getting all the parties together in one week. The proposed pipeline would cover 42 miles in Montgomery County.
