From Arkansas to the big screen

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. ( KNWA/KFTA ) — Hating Mondays and loving lasagna may be a universal thing, but getting to help produce the soundtrack for “The Garfield Movie,” not so much.

Arkansas native Michael Hodges was the executive music producer of the latest Garfield movie. The Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter said it was a pleasure to work on the soundtrack with artists such as Jon Batiste, Snoop Dogg, Keith Urban, Calum Scott and Hannah Waddingham.

“An amazing two years of my life,” Hodges said. “It goes really fast.”

He talks about how the music soundtrack collaborations are unique, fun and uptempo.

“It is really unique, so there are really different sounds you have the collaboration with Keith Urban and Snoop Dog so that’s a pretty unique collaboration,” he said.

The Garfield Movie was released on May 24. Hodges has long been a fan since he was a kid.

Hodges’ grandmother had bought him a stuffed Garfield animal before she died and he still has it. Making his work on the movie more sentimental.

Hodges had a few words to share for anyone who is aiming to go to Hollywood.

“Don’t take no for an answer and keep pushing,” Hodges said.
