People Are Going Wild for Women's DIY Vintage Pantry

Even in today's largest and most luxurious homes, butler's pantries are hard to come by. While most kitchens have plenty of cabinet space (although we could always use more) finding a home, especially a recent build, with a room dedicated to storing excess food and dinnerware is a rarity.

Throughout history, butler's pantries were dedicated spaces in large homes that were used to store silverware, sets of china, and more. While modern families don't generally have butlers, the need for storage near the kitchen is still there. So when we saw the DIY pantry one woman created in her own home we knew we needed to get all the details.

While a lot of newer homes sport an open floor plan, it isn't uncommon for vintage sanctuaries to be separated by multiple rooms. In a recent video from content creator @ gatheredliving she showed her followers how she turned an awkward room next to her kitchen into a beautiful vintage pantry fit for a queen.

The DIY Vintage Pantry of Our Dreams

At first glance, you might think Emily's green and floral room is her kitchen, but it's actually an extra large pantry. Because she wanted her kitchen to flow seamlessly into her living room , she didn't originally know what to do with this corner room. Because Emily loves collecting vintage pieces, she needed an extra room to store all of her items. The pantry has faux brick floors, a green ceiling, yellow cabinets, and fruit-themed wallpaper that covers the walls giving it a charming maximalist feel. The left side wall has floor-to-ceiling built-ins that are filled with vintage glassware, pie dishes, and other noteworthy knick-knacks. On the back wall, there are butcher block countertops, a custom plate rack for her vintage trays and platters, and cabinets for her to store her antique glasses.

    Heirloom Pieces Make the Space

This pantry is the perfect mix of old and new. While the built-ins, wallpaper, and paint were just recently added, they work so seamlessly with the heirloom pieces she incorporated into the space. The chandelier that you see hanging above her thrifted wood table and the butcher block counters were both passed down from her husband's grandma's house. The addition of these items adds so much more character to the room.

When I think of pantries I imagine small walk-in closets or tiny rooms off to the side of the kitchen, not entire rooms. This is the pantry we didn't know we needed!
