    Four Arkansas-based companies ranked in new Fortune 500

    BENTONVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Four Arkansas-based companies were featured in the latest edition of the Fortune 500 rankings released last week.

    The Fortune 500 is a ranking released annually by Fortune Magazine and ranks 500 of the largest corporations in the country based on their total revenue from the previous fiscal year.

    Here’s where the four Arkansas companies were ranked in the 70th annual rankings:

    • #1 – Walmart
    • #85 – Tyson Foods
    • #214 – Murphy USA
    • #316 – J.B. Hunt Transport Services

    The revenue threshold for the overall rankings was $7.1 trillion, down 2% from the previous year’s.

    Five Arkansas employers among best in America, according to Forbes

    Walmart topped the ranking for the 12th consecutive year with a cumulative revenue of $6.1 trillion. The retail giant has been featured in the top five of every ranking since 1995 .

    Amazon, Exxon Mobile, Apple and United Health Group rounded out the time five.

    Tyson Foods dropped five spots from the 2023 rankings and was ranked as high as 66th in 2016. The poultry manufacturer was the third-highest-ranked food manufacturer behind Archer-Daniels-Midland Company and PepsiCo.

    Murphy USA and J.B. Hunt also saw drops in their rankings from the previous year, falling 32 and 36 spots.
