ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – The Anderson School District Two Board of Trustees approved a plan Monday to increase the base teacher salary in the district.

Starting July 1st, the new starting pay for teachers will be $50,002. School officials said the decision is included in the 2024-2025 budget.

The budget also includes a step increase for all employees on the schedule.

Officials said over the past two years, the district’s support staff salary schedule has increased 20 percent and the hourly pay scale has increased by 30 percent.

According to Superintendent Jason Johns, the unanimously approved decision makes Anderson Two the highest-paying district in the county and one of the highest-paying districts in South Carolina.

“The leadership of our school board to ensure we can recruit and retain the most talented
teachers possible is evident year after year in increased academic achievement as well as our
district earning the highest school climate rating of any district in the state,” said Johns.

“The 2024-2025 budget approved by the school board did not include a tax increase. District leaders worked diligently for several months to find ways to save revenue to pass a balanced budget without having to levy a tax increase.”
