This week, Prime Video let out the news that The Boys would be ending its run after five seasons, and the actors have now spoken out on social media about it, it was always the plan.

Earlier in the week, The Boys series creator Eric Kripke took to X (formerly Twitter) to tell audiences and fans everywhere that the impending season four start is the perfect time to announce the show will be ending, after season five. This post on X can be seen below, from the official X account of the showrunner Eric Kripke.

While this announcement surely comes as a shock to some, the people the news appears to shock the least are the cast members, as they all have had a similar reaction of ‘This was always the plan guys!’ Jack Quaid, the actor who plays Hughie on The Boys , took to his official Instagram account to let fans know how he felt about the decision, and the actor appears unsurprised.

Quaid says “This has been the plan for a long time. This will be the ending our show-runner intended. I trust @erickripke1 and our amazing writers to deliver an incredible finale. In TV it’s such a rare gift to be able to go out on your own terms, so I’m immensely excited to see what season 5 has in store. I’d like to thank the fans who got us this far. We truly couldn’t have done this without you.”

Erin Moriarty, the actress who plays Starlight on The Boys also chimed in on her official Instagram saying “We love this show too much to not end it on a high note. When the mastermind behind it all ( @erickripke1 ) expresses his master plan to conclude this wild ride after 5 seasons, you trust.”

Other actors, Laz Alonso (who plays Mother’s Milk) and Karen Fukuhara (Kimiko) also chimed in on the Meta platform expressing their thanks towards the fans, and how it has been an incredible journey. While fans gear up for the season four premiere, you can catch our interview with The Boys Antony Starr (Homelander) and Chace Crawford (The Deep) to prepare.
