DENVER ( KDVR ) — South Metro Fire Rescue spent over three hours rescuing a pup from the duct of a townhouse on Tuesday evening.

The department posted on X about the incident, which began when a Pekingese puppy, named Archie Bean, jumped off a bed inside a third-floor townhome in unincorporated Douglas County.

Archie jumped from the bed and fell through an uncovered vent, which wouldn’t be a problem for most dogs except Archie is 12 weeks old and weighs only five pounds, according to the fire rescue.

A dog helped his owner get rescued after a car crash in a remote, steep ravine in Oregon

While Archie was brought back safely, it took some time and expertise.

“The rescue operation was not without its challenges, as the crew had to navigate through the intricate ductwork of the townhome to locate Archie,” South Metro Fire said in the tweet.

The video shows crews cutting between ceilings and suspending wires with cameras to try and find Archie, but it took them hours to locate the pup.

“This whole community is on edge trying to figure out when this dog is going to be OK,” the owner said in the video.

Dog owners warned to be aware of deadly poison hemlock

With help from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Denver Plumbline Services, crews were able to pull Archie out and reunite him with his owner.

“He fell from the third floor down to the basement and he doesn’t have a cut on him,” the owner said in the video.

The owner told South Metro Fire at the end of the video that Archie was tired and needed a bath, and that she was also tired and probably needed a bath as well.
