    Bill Gates’ Nuclear Power Dreams

    Nuclear power has been considered a primary alternative to fossil fuels for decades. However, it became much less popular after the nuclear meltdown at Three Mile Island in 1979. Today, a new generation of small modular reactors (SMRs) exists. These reactors are considered considerably safer than the generation of much larger reactors that came before them.

    Bill Gates has started the construction of a nuclear power site in Wyoming. “The co-founder of Microsoft is chairman of TerraPower. The company applied to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in March for a construction permit for an advanced nuclear reactor that uses sodium, not water, for cooling. If approved, it would operate as a commercial nuclear power plant,” the AP reports.

    Bigger Percentage In Europe

    About 18% of the electricity generated in the US is from nuclear installations. In South Korea, Switzerland, Finland, and Sweden, the number is above 30%.

    The current administration plans to increase the use of nuclear power in the US. Alongside renewable power sources like wind and solar, a new generation of nuclear reactors is now capturing the attention of a wide range of stakeholders for nuclear energy’s ability to produce clean, reliable energy and meet the needs of a fast-growing economy,
