With the temperatures climbing more and more every day and the sun shining brighter, there's an unexplainable call to be outside more often. If you're like us you're planning to do a majority of your entertaining and relaxing at your home's exterior this summer season. With this, the necessity to create a space that is both welcoming and calming is a must. So, once you have all of your flowers and vegetables planted for the summer, it's time to get decorating.
From tiny porches and wood patios to gardens that take up half the yard, there are plenty of ways to make your outdoor area into the oasis of your dreams. Follow along as we run through some of our favorite ways to give your backyard a much-needed facelift.
For people with huge yards and tons of landscaping, getting your vegetation in order is a must for changing the look of the space. Once that is complete, textiles, seating, tables, and more can be used to make the outdoor area feel more like home.
Refurbish Thrifted Outdoor Furniture
If you're on a tight budget, buying brand-new furniture for your outdoor space may not be in the cards. Thankfully thrift stores , Goodwills, and Facebook Marketplace are filled to the brim with inexpensive outdoor items just waiting for a little TLC. Take the bench content creator @ therurallegend found for $5 at her local thrift shop. While it came with an unsightly green cushion that was falling apart, with a few fresh coats of paint and new fabric, she crafted a garden stool perfect for her outdoor sanctuary. If you find an outdoor set that needs a little work, take it home and give it the new life it deserves!
Much like your home's interior, textiles can completely transform the look of your outdoor space. If the space is looking a little bland, adding a giant rug and some chic accent pillows can act as the perfect pop of color. If you have room for a larger weather-resistant couch, spruce it up with some cozy throw blankets. Don't be afraid to mix and match colors and patterns either, layering different items can add much-needed visual interest.
Dealing with a tiny patio? A few feet can go a long way! Working on a tight budget? Thrifting will be your new best friend. Unsure of where to start? There are so many ways to give your outdoor area the makeover it deserves!
