One term a lot of people hear when it comes to home design is “accent wall”. They are used to break a space up and make it feel a bit more custom . Traditionally people just paint one wall in a room a different color from the rest. But it’s 2024 now, and tradition is taking a new form as home designers are starting to take things up a notch

We have seen some more clever installations of accent walls, like fully texturized walls that have movement to them, living plant walls, mirror walls, and now an accent wall that is all built-in storage and display. This is by far one of the favorites we have seen, not just because ti is useful but because the woman who crafted it made it internally of IKEA Billy units, making for an easy DIY. Check it out below!

This woman used the IKEA Billy unit to create her custom built-in accent wall and it has left us, and the rest of the internet swooning over the look. This is one brilliant hack for creating an epic focal point in any room!

    Budget-friendly DIY Built-Ins

Even though built-ins give off a custom designer look, think Britney Spears closet, they really don’t have to cost all that much. With a little DIY vacation and some thoughtfulness, you can create your very own custom built-ins on a serious budget.

Try buying discounted or second-hand shelving. Bookcases make PERFECT built-ins as you can remove the shelving from the top half and add a clothing rod to hang clothes, leaving a few shelves on the bottom to stack things like folded jeans and shoes!

Fully go all out with your DIY by building it from scratch with purchased lumber. If you are quite crafty with a circular saw and a drill, you can whip up your custom built-in super fast with hardly any money invested in the supplies themselves!
