WAYNE COUN T Y, Ohio (WJW) – Two Amazon delivery drivers are being hailed as heroes for rescuing a mother and her two small children after a rollover accident.

In an unusual twist, authorities only know the good Samaritans by their first names and are now trying to track them down to give them the credit they deserve.

The story began to unfold on June 9, as a young mother was traveling northbound on State Route 94 in Wayne County with her children secured in their car seats.

Investigators say her minivan drifted off the right side of the road, slid into a ditch and then slammed into a utility pole, causing the van to flip over in a farm field outside the village of Dalton.

The mother called 911 and told the dispatcher, “my vehicle rolled over. I hit my head on the dashboard. I have a nine-month-old and a three-year-old.”

The young family was in a dangerous situation because of downed wires around the minivan, but two Amazon drivers stopped at the accident scene, pulled the mother and children from the vehicle and moved them a safe distance away from the power lines.

The mother told the dispatcher, “someone is helping get my baby out and someone is helping get my toddler out right now.”

When firefighters and paramedics from the North Lawrence Fire Department first pulled up at the scene, they were anticipating a delicate rescue based on the involvement of small children and the presence of the power lines.

They were surprised to find the victims out of harm’s way, thanks to the efforts of the Amazon employees.

“What they did was very courageous. It was very brave of them, especially putting themselves in that kind of situation and environment. I feel that if it was just Joe Citizen seeing those wires, you don’t know, you know what I mean? There’s a lot of elements that take place. A wire could be down further down the road, charging the area,” NLFD Lt. Brandon Johnston said.

Firefighters had hoped to get the names of the good Samaritans, but it turns out that once they felt the young family was in safe hands, they left the scene of the accident to continue their deliveries.

The mother was cited by the Ohio State Highway Patrol for distracted driving and a marked lane violation.

However, we are told that she is just grateful for the actions of her family’s two guardian angels, who only gave her their first names “Damien” and “Alexis” before they went back to work.

“They were just doing the right thing and they were in the right place at the right time and they had some deliveries to make,” said Lt. Johnston.

FOX 8 reached out to Amazon to see if the company will help identify the two heroes.

Meanwhile, anyone with contact information for “Damien” and “Alexis” is asked to call firefighters in North Lawrence at 330-832-6347.
