People living with a serious debilitating disability will be receiving their July Supplemental Security Income payments, worth up to $943, in just 18 days.

The payment , which is under the direction of the Social Security Administration , will be sent to millions of beneficiaries on Monday, July 1.

The maximum amount people can receive depends on how they apply. Categories include individual filers, joint filers, and essential persons who live with SSI recipients to provide them with necessary care.

Individual filers receive up to $943 each month, people who filed as a couple can receive up to $1,415 a month, and essential persons get up to $472 each month. Due to inflation, these amounts have increased by 3.2% since last year.

To qualify for the payments, a person needs to be at least partially blind or have a “physical or mental condition(s) that seriously limits their daily activities for a period of 12 months or more, or may be expected to result in death.”

Regular Social Security benefits are not included in SSI payments. Enrolling in Social Security does not automatically qualify someone for SSI payments, and not every recipient enrolled will be entitled to the maximum amount. The SSA provides a calculator that filers can use to see a personalized estimate of what they will receive.
