ROBERTSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Right before 7 p.m., the crash icon was removed from a portion of Interstate 24 in Robertson County on TDOT’s SmartWay map.

A post to X, formerly Twitter, from Rebekah Hammonds, TDOT community relations officer, stated that traffic had been moving through the area on the right shoulder for some time. She added that TDOT was hopeful that both lanes would be open once law enforcement completed their investigation.

The crash happened in the westbound lanes at the Maxey Road exit near mile marker 18 around 1:15 a.m.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol reported at least one person was killed in the four-vehicle crash, which closed all the westbound lanes.

Shortly after 12:15 p.m., THP announced one lane should reopen shortly, adding, “Full clearance and recovery might not occur until around 2P. Please use an alternate route for your rush-hour commute.”

However, as of 2:45 p.m., the Tennessee Department of Transportation’s online traffic map still showed all westbound travel lanes and the left westbound shoulder are still closed at the scene of the crash on I-24.
