She's so back. Today, Miranda Lambert released a fiery new music video for "Wranglers," a song which harkens back to 2007 Miranda and hits like “Kerosene” with the vengeful lyrics and take-no-sh*t messaging. It tells the tale of a woman “taking her power back” and settling the score when someone does her wrong, and that line “wranglers take forever to burn” is just so classic. Because of Miranda, I've learned something new about flammability of the iconic jean brand too, which I will certainly keep in the back of my head
just in case… The Texas native says the song is ultimately about finding strength when you've been wronged, and the music video is a continuation and representation of that theme: “‘Wranglers’ is a classic tale of a woman taking her power back. I think we can all identify with the character in this video, because we have all had a time in our life where we needed to find our strength, and also get a little revenge on someone who did us wrong or hurt us. This offers such a cool, raging take on how something like this unravels; I am so proud to sing this song.” Written by Audra Mae, who also sings on the track, Evan McKeever and Ryan Carpenter, Miranda previously said it feels like it could’ve been a song she cut back in 2007:
“I am so proud to sing this song. It feels like it could have been on the same record as ‘Gunpowder & Lead’ in a lot of ways. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned is a pretty powerful statement, and the way it’s written, you can tell, we’re not kidding.” The music video was filmed outside of Austin, Texas and directed by her longtime collaborator Trey Fanjoy. The video also features Miranda's childhood best friend, Laci, who also appeared in “White Liar,” as well as actress Elle Lamont, who previously appeared in “If I Was A Cowboy,” as well as actors Jessica Stroup and Christopher Backus. You see Miranda walk into the room of girlfriends, comforting the one who has just been left heartbroken and still needs to send her ex's stuff back. Miranda tells her: "Alright, well if he wants his sh*t back, we're gonna send him his sh*t back."
Probably not words you ever wanna hear from her if you're on the receiving end... Many of the scorching visuals harken back to Lambert’s aforementioned hit "Kerosene," and when Miranda is in form like this, seeking revenge and settling the score, she simply doesn't miss. You can watch the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ElVkQl55Zro This song is Miranda's first big release since she put out her her Palomino album back in 2022, and also her first project with new label Republic Records. Republic Records is a massive, New York City-based label, and Miranda has also inked a partnership deal with Nashville-based label Big Loud to help with country radio promotion, in addition to other marketing and strategic efforts. She also recently started a new venture as partner at a brand new label, an offshoot of Big Loud called
Big Loud Texas , and has been teasing a new full-length album coming this year, so stay tuned because it's already off to a heck of a start...
