It's time to dust off that patio furniture and start spending more time outside again. But that long winter and spring wasn't exactly kind to a lot of our outdoor accessories, and many of us are pulling out our pillows and cushions and discovering quite a bit of mold, mildew, and staining.

But, that doesn't mean that we need to toss those pieces and head to the store to buy something new. One dad has come up with a great (and low cost) way to give those cushions a refresh, and it won't take you more than an hour or two over the weekend to get it done.

Thanks to @daddybrownn , we know that baking soda is the ultimate workhorse when it comes to getting tough stains of out of those outdoor fabrics .

According to him, you only need to create a paste using the powder and some water to create the ultimate cleaning compound, which means it's going to be safe to use if you have small kids or pets at home.

People popped into the comments to add their two cents — one woman said that she uses white vinegar with the baking soda for her more aggressive stains — and to ask questions. One person even asked if this method was safe to use on umbrellas, which is how we learned that some umbrella covers are actually removable and they can be tossed into the washing machine when they need to get cleaned!

Of course, sometimes you can't salvage those outdoor pieces and you have to buy new. But the good news is, you may not have to pay and arm and a leg to get a new patio furniture setup!

Walmart Has Great Deals on Patio Sets

If you're in the market for something new you may want to head to Walmart to test your luck. The store has so many great finds for a variety of budgets , and can even help you find pieces that will fit those small patios as well.

We personally never pass up a chance to stroll through the outdoor section at Walmart ever since we learned that they were carrying some highly sought after rare plants , so we're constantly checking out the deals while we're there.

It looks like they still have a lot of good options on the shelves, but we can't guarantee that will continue as the summer kicks into full swing this month, so we suggestion people get shopping ASAP.

You won't have to worry about messy patio pieces with this trick, which is why we're going to test it out for ourselves this weekend while we're working getting our patio into tip top shape for summer!
