As summer rolls around and the weather gets warmer most people look for ways to spend more time outdoors. While laying out in your yard soaking in all those UV rays is a summertime right of passage, sometimes you just want a place where you can sit back and relax without worrying about covering your body in sunscreen.

Having a patio is one of the greatest pleasures of having your own apartment or home. When done correctly, a backyard (regardless of its square footage) can give you the outdoor escape you desire.

How to Create an Outdoor Oasis

More often than not they have couches and chairs perfect for lounging, an umbrella or covering to escape the sun, and a comfy rug, pillows, and blankets that make curling up and chilling out inevitable. If you're looking for ways to make your outdoor oasis come to life, follow along for our favorite tricks to spruce up your patio.

    Opt For Comfy Seating

One of the key parts of creating an outdoor area you actually want to spend time in is finding furniture that is both stylish and comfortable. If you like to entertain, opt for an L-shaped couch that is big enough to fit a lot of people and is comfortable enough for them to stay for hours. This High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Wicker Couch from Wayfair is big enough to fit five people and has a coffee table perfect for cocktails and tea.

    Include Tables

Whether you need a dining room-sized table for summertime dinner parties or a side table to set your drinks on, there are endless options out there. In a recent video from @ schereleimpapier she made her own mosaic side table using an IKEA GLADOM Table and small wooden cubes and we couldn't believe how good the final result was. To get the look she carefully placed wooden cubes in the tray and painted them varying shades of green and white before covering them with epoxy resin. It looks like real mosaic tile and would be the perfect addition to any outdoor space .

    Add Textiles

While bigger ticket items like tables and seating are a must, adding textiles can bring much-needed coziness to your outdoor space. Weather-resistant rugs, cozy throw blankets , and accent pillows can be the finishing touches you need to perfect your backyard sanctuary.

If you're living room isn't quite giving you the relaxation you need, an outdoor area might be your ticket to tranquility. With the right furniture, a few cozy pillows and blankets, and a table to set your things on, you can create the garden sanctuary you've always wanted.
