The couple has been living separately for months, though they continue to appear united regarding the good of their kids. Affleck has three children with his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, and Lopez has twins with her ex-husband. Recently, a source claimed that Lopez is centering the kids to show that she’s still a committed wife — and Affleck is going through the motions.

Ben Affleck is ‘going along with’ Jennifer Lopez staying close to his kids

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are excellent parents, and they both hope to keep their children safe and happy through their current difficulties as a married couple. Lopez has twins, Max and Emme Muniz, while Affleck has three kids, Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel Affleck. Lopez was recently spotted at various events to support Affleck’s children. An insider told In Touch Weekly that Lopez uses the opportunities to show she’s still connected with Affleck and their combined families.

“Jennifer’s not stupid,” the insider said. “She knows that attending Violet’s graduation and Samuel’s basketball game makes her look good; it’s also a way to stay close to Ben and their blended family.”

The insider added that while Affleck and Lopez don’t want to “involve the kids in their marriage problems,” Affleck is “going along with” Lopez sticking around for his kid’s events because he “doesn’t want to invite any more unwanted publicity.”

“Ben loves his kids; he knows they care about Jennifer,” the insider continued. “Ben doesn’t want to hurt them by hurting Jennifer, but he’s got to do what’s right for him.”

Lopez reportedly has a great relationship with Affleck’s kids. Another source previously told Fox News Digital that Lopez and Affleck living apart was difficult for the whole family to accept. “At first, it was a whirlwind of love, and now that real life is setting in, it’s hard,” the insider explained. “They are both involved in each other’s kids’ lives and consider themselves one big family unit, so it’s been hard for everyone.”

Jennifer Garner allegedly ‘doesn’t like her kids in the public eye’

Jennifer Lopez notoriously loves the spotlight, but Ben Affleck once claimed he hates fame. As for Jennifer Garner, she allegedly doesn’t want the three kids she shares with Affleck to be the center of attention.

“Jennifer Garner felt blindsided by Ben’s relationship with J.LO,” an insider told Fox News Digital. “She doesn’t like her kids in the public eye so much, and that’s been hard for her.”

Previously, Garner said she doesn’t like seeing the people she loves — including Affleck — “in the press.”

“I really work hard not to see either of us in the press,” she told Stellar Magazine, according to Elle. “It doesn’t make me feel good, even if it’s something nice about one of us. I just try to forget that I’m out there in any way, and the same with anyone I love. I don’t need to see anyone in my family made into a meme.”

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck attended Affleck’s son’s graduation ceremony in June 2024. But they didn’t arrive together. Sam, Affleck’s son, arrived with Jennifer Garner, while Lopez arrived with her twins. Lopez reportedly arrived before Affleck, according to TMZ.

Recently, Lopez and Affleck were seen holding hands at other public events and giving each other air kisses before leaving separately. However, at Sam’s graduation, the husband and wife reportedly steered clear of each other without a single air kiss in sight. But Affleck appeared to continue to wear his wedding ring. It’s unclear if Lopez wore hers to the event.
