Burger King's new $5 meal deal outshines McDonald's with food experts hailing choice and availability

Burger King has launched a new $5 value meal deal that outshines McDonald's offering in several ways. The $5 Your Way Meal, which was last available for a limited time in selected parts of the US in 2023, is now back for the summer across the country.

The deal includes a choice of one of three sandwiches, a Whopper Jr, a Bacon Cheeseburger, or Chicken Jr, along with four chicken nuggets, fries, and a soft drink.

Fast food chains are battling falling customer numbers as Americans, many of whom are fatigued after two years of price increases, stay away, leading to the roll-out of special offers. This comes as McDonald's plans to launch a nearly identical $5 meal bundle from June 25 for a month, reports The Daily Mail Online.

Customers at McDonald's will get either a McDouble or McChicken sandwich, fries, a soft drink, and four McNuggets. However, fast food enthusiasts argue that the Burger King deal has key advantages over its competitors. It launches sooner, runs for 'several' months rather than just one, and is expected to be available at almost all outlets.

Last week, DailyMail.com reported that not every McDonald's restaurant will offer the deal, with those facing higher labor and rent costs opting out. The deal will only last for a month from June 25, rather than all summer.

"Burger King is the king for a reason! Great that this runs most of the summer - and I heard it is in all its restaurants, not just some," said fast food expert Andrea Smith.

US fast food chains are currently in a battle to attract customers back. Wendy's has fired the latest salvo in the fast food price war with a $3 breakfast deal. Meanwhile, McDonald's has reported a miss on profit estimates for the first time in two years, with the company noting that customers are becoming "more discriminating with every dollar they spend."
