‘Like going to the DMV,’ fumes Sam’s Club shopper after ‘complicated’ process to renew membership & online wasn’t easier

A SAM'S Club shopper hit out at the store after they ran into several issues trying to renew their membership.

Sam's Club is widely viewed as the more affordable option over Costco.

The basic membership is only $50 a year, less than the $60 fee at Costco.

But some shoppers found the savings aren't worth the hassle of dealing with certain store policies.

One customer who was trying to renew their membership hit several hurdles.

"Sam's Club, why the hell do you make it so complicated to f**king renew a membership and downgrade from plus," they wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

"It's like going to the DMV with you people.

"S**t design and an even worse website."

A COMMON COMPLAINT

Shoppers have also complained about the expansion of self-checkouts at the store.

"Sam's Club membership is not what it used to be," they started off their rant.

"What an aggravating experience."

While they were shopping, it was extremely crowded, but several registers were closed, and only a handful of self-checkout registers were open.

"When it is so crowded, why wouldn't all hands be on deck to speed up the checkout process and reduce unnecessary lines?" they asked.

Sam's Club offers a Scan and Go feature in the app, which allows shoppers to scan items as they shop and pay without waiting in line.

However, this shopper wasn't willing to test out the feature.

"No, I don't want to download the app on my phone. My phone already runs too slow," they wrote.

"Another app is not what my phone needs. Several registers are not open or not being manned. So why am I wasting money on this annual membership?"

Sam's Club membership options

Sam's Club offers two memberships, Club and Plus.

• Club Membership: $50 per year, bonus offers, same-day delivery, instant savings, Sam's Club Mastercard, members-only fuel savings, tire and battery center, complimentary membership, and add-on memberships.

Other Sam's shoppers weren't sympathetic and said this customer was the problem, not the store.

"You don’t want to download the scan and go app, but yet b**ch about the crowds and lines. Pick a struggle," wrote one person.

"This sounds more like failure to adapt on your part," added another customer.

While it isn't always the case, most customers agree that Sam's Club's newest technology update is pointless and won't improve their shopping experience.
