BT & Sal: Aaron Rodgers minicamp absence reinforces Jets lack of leadership, accountability

Many Jets fans have pushed back on BT and Sal’s declaration that Aaron Rodgers skipping minicamp represents a problem, and Sal opened Friday’s show with a reminder that Rodgers’ absence is about the bigger picture.

“You’re missing the point. It’s not about Aaron Rodgers not being there for minicamp,” Sal said. “That in itself is not significant as it pertains to the results of the Jets season on the field. It’s the bigger picture. The fact that the Jets organization and almost every player to a man is okay with their quarterback not being there for mandatory minicamp, when every other quarterback in the NFL was there.

“That, to me, is the problem with the Jets.”

Sal believes the response from the team to Rodgers not attending mandatory minicamp is further evidence that the organization is sorely lacking leadership and accountability, and doesn’t believe any accountability will be shown whenever it’s needed in the coming season, especially if there doesn’t seem to be any right now.

BT is in full agreement, and says that even if Sauce Gardner is taking to social media to say that Rodgers’ absence is no big deal, it is when looking at the track record of the Jets and their lack of holding anybody accountable.

“It’s so simple, that people should process this better than they are,” BT said. “It’s symbolism that transcends Aaron Rodgers not being there.

“I don’t get it. It’s like a bunch of sycophants out there who are just predisposed to swallow anything the Jets give them. It’s not a good look, but more importantly, it’s bigger issues with the team.”
