One of the most rewarding things you get to experience as a parent is watching your child and your own parents get to know (and love) each other. When you see your own mom and dad interacting with your little one, you get a glimpse of how much they cared about you when you were a kid...and it can put your whole childhood into perspective.

In a video posted on June 13, a grandpa is holding his baby granddaughter, and she's looking at him with all the love in the world. Witnessing their bond form in real time is super emotional for mom!

"Seeing how my dad interacts with my baby girl is so emotional knowing that this was literally me with him when I was younger," wrote @quincieandzach . He's putting his girl dad skills to good use! Commenters knew a proud grandpa when they saw one.

"That's it!! Game over!!! Grandpa's locked/wrapped around baby girl's tiny fingers," wrote heyyyymommm.

"Most of y'all have no idea, the joy love and pride that man is filled with at that moment. PopPops forever!" wrote chrisbailey4671.

This baby girl and her grandpa are clearly going to be besties for life — and that's a good thing for both of them!

Why It's So Important for Kids to Bond With Grandparents

"Establishing a bond with grandparents is great for kids in many ways," according to Children's Minnesota.

"Grandparents can be positive role models and influences, and they can provide a sense of cultural heritage and family history. Grandparents provide their grandkids with love, have their best interests at heart, and can make them feel safe."

Having a close relationship with grandparents can even help to encourage children's development.

"Overnight trips to Grandma's house , for example, may be less traumatic than sleepovers with peers and can help kids develop independence . Another benefit — grandparents may have lots of time to spend playing with and reading to kids. Such dedicated attention only improves a child's developmental and learning skills."

If your child's grandparents live nearby, regular visits can be beneficial for the whole family. And if they don't, frequent video chats are a great way to stay in touch and help kids get to know and appreciate their grandmas and grandpas.

The baby and grandpa in this video are definitely off to a good start!
