Some of our pets are just natural born performers... whatever that happens to mean for them. My dog will show anyone who's willing to watch how well she can follow certain commands, and you can tell she's so proud that she's practically beaming. And then, there are the more exotic pets who have truly unique talents, like talking and singing — I'm talking about birds, to be clear. After they find their voice, it's all over for the rest of us; they're ready to show off at a moment's notice!

The perfect example of a bird with this kind of love for performing is basically just this TikTok video. When a Cockatoo finds himself with an audience, he just can't help but belt out a song.

On Thursday, June 13, @fixchix shared this precious video of their singing Cockatoo ready to share his talents with the world... or at least everybody who happened to be at his vet's office that day.

Lucky for him, he had a captive audience in the waiting room. Not that he needed it, though; I have a feeling that people would have stopped to watch them even if they weren't waiting on their appointment!

Between the singing, the dancing, and moving all around the counter (his stage, obviously) so that he could make sure he was working the whole crowd, this is clearly what a natural born performer looks like.

In the comments, people tried to guess what he was singing. Guesses included songs like "You're a Grand Old Flag" and "The 7th Element" by Vitas, but we may never know for sure. Maybe it was an original song...

    Why Do Cockatoos Sing?

There are a bunch of different reasons that Cockatoos sing, regardless of whether or not they love the stage as much as this bird does.

Many birds sing as a way of marking their territory so that other birds know that this space is taken, while some sing as a way to attract a mate. There are also birds who will sing for different reasons at different times of the day. For example, singing in the morning could be their way of signaling that they survived the night, while singing in the afternoon could be their way of keeping other birds away from their food sources.

Singing isn't the only way these animals perform, either; male Cockatoos are known for drumming to impress females and lure them in with their many musical talents. This sounds very similar to male human musicians, actually...

And when it comes to why this Cockatoo sings, I have a feeling that it might just be because of his love of performing. Never stop!
