Can you imagine seeing something like that? Killer whales are nothing short of amazing. These creatures are massive reaching over 32 feet and weighting as much as 22,000 pounds. These massive apex predators eat everything they can from fish to sea lions and sharks. Beyond that, they are even known to live in groups called pods where they team up and hunt together to ensure they all get a meal... the wolves of the sea. Alone they are amazing and dangerous, together they can do anything thy want as they use different techniques to get their meals. These folks caught something amazing in action as a group of nearly 80 killer whales hunts down a small blue whale. Saying a small blue whale doesn’t mean much, because even they are big. Blue whales can reach up to 200 tons and stretch over 100 feet long. This video shows killer whales everywhere you look as they attack the blue whale near Bremer Canyon, off the coast of Australia. The folks summed it all up like this.
"Yesterday was a wildlife experience as raw as it gets, as close to 80 killer whales came together to successfully hunt and kill a young blue whale. For close to three hours the blue whale tried to evade the orca, but in the end strength in numbers prevailed. It was both harrowing and yet stunning to see a natural spectacle that only a few people have ever witnessed." That sounds about right. That is some of natures finest at work. https://www.instagram.com/p/CMhggBiDwka/
