Whether they're singing or acting or playing an instrument, there's nothing quite like watching your child perform in front of an audience. On the one hand, the experience can be completely nerve-wracking. (Will they remember their lines? Will they hit that high note?) On the other, it can be unbelievably exciting to see your child living their dream onstage.

In a throwback video posted on June 13, the mother of a 16-year-old boy remembers her "proudest" moment as a mom — when her son dressed up like Napoleon Dynamite and performed the iconic dance from the movie in his 5th grade talent show!

"My proudest Mom moment. This kid taught himself the dance and went all in. He's the best! Video from 2017, he's now 16 and would never do something like this these days," wrote @thediscoedit . He totally nailed it ! Maybe the other students didn't totally appreciate the reference at first, but fans of the classic film were definitely blown away .

"The kids didn't get it but the teachers loved it. Well done lad," wrote Choops.

"That boy is definitely being raised right, good job Mama," wrote jellybear.

"Perfect performance!! Vote for Pedro!" wrote Rikki Burton Smith.

Even if this now-teen wouldn't currently consider a repeat performance, the experience was no doubt a super positive one for him!

Why Dancing Is Good for Kids (and Grown-Ups)

Whether you sign them up for formal dance classes or just encourage them to get down around the house, experts say dancing is great for kids' development.

"From balancing on their toes to raising their arms, dance utilizes the entire body and all of its muscle groups," Washington Parent.

"Dance improves flexibility, coordination, balance, range of motion, stamina, muscle tone, strength and posture. But physical fitness is just one of many benefits of dance that can enhance your child’s life in so many ways."

Dancing can be a major mood boost (no matter how old you are).

"When we move our muscles, our bodies release endorphins , and those endorphins make us feel good," reported CNN.

"This is the case whether we kayak, play baseball, or dance. What makes dance special to this moment is that it’s accessible — just clear out some space in your living room and turn on music — and it can be done together. And yet, somewhat paradoxically but also quite magnificently, it’s a group activity that also allows for a lot of individual expression."

Dancing is also a good way for kids to express their emotions ...as if you needed another excuse to throw a living room dance party tonight!
