    1 hospitalized in vehicle accident on I-79 in Monongalia County

    MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) — One person had to be taken to the hospital Friday afternoon following a vehicle accident on Interstate 79 in Monongalia County near the Interstate 68 interchange.

    According to an official with the Monongalia County 911 Center, at around 2:30 p.m., crews were alerted to a single-vehicle accident near mile marker 147 of I-79. When crews arrived on scene, they found that one person sustained injuries that required them to be taken to the hospital for further treatment.

    The extent of the person’s injuries and the cause of the accident were not provided, but the West Virginia State Police is investigating this incident. West Virginia 511 data and traffic camera footage showed that traffic in the area was slowed, but has returned to normal as of 3:20 p.m.

    Crews from the Clinton District Volunteer Fire Department, Triune-Halleck Volunteer Fire Department, Westover Fire Department, Mon EMS and the West Virginia State Police responded to this call.
