With everything now being mass-produced and pumped out on factory liners, all homes both exterior and interior look the exact same. It really is no surprise that vintage goods have been a huge hit in styling homes, or that couples are seeking old fixer-uppers, just to feel a bit of individuality apart from the normal crowd.

One of the biggest trends that we have seen coming back into style that is far from today's “modern” decorating style is from the mid-century era. If you don’t know, the mid-century era was first introduced by Cara Greenberg in the 1950s referring to a style of architectural, interior, industrial, and graphic design that emerged after World War II.

Today most sought-after are mid-century homes that flood places like San Francisco and Palm Springs, featuring large single-level homes with floor-to-ceiling windows and wide open interior space. The decorations that fill those homes are usually quickly snatched up at thrift stores or estate sales, for quite that high price. One woman found the most precious mid-century gem thrown away in the trash, and our jaw dropped much like hers when she stumbled upon this iconic item, check it out below!

    Mid-Century Modern Architecture

Mid-century homes in the modern world are highly sought after by enthusiasts of the old craft design. These sorts of house plans are primarily characterized by very large and spacious open floor plans with shorter ceiling heights but plenty of light with floor-to-ceiling windows.

They typically have a lot of wide angles to them focusing on rectangular and triangular shapes throughout their design aesthetics. Decor comes in the form as minimal, clean, and connecting to natural environmental elements like wood and stone.

The current mid-century style brings in lots of Scandinavian flare, making Ikea a perfect shop for decorating any mid-century modern dwelling.
