POTTSVILLE, SCHUYLKILL COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Pennsylvania’s first mobile licensed narcotic treatment program rolled into Pottsville, Schuylkill County.

Gaudenzia, one of the largest nonprofit providers for people struggling with substance use, and the state department of drug and alcohol programs, unveiled a brand new mobile licensed narcotic treatment program.

The initiative is the first of its kind in our state. It provides everything from medication-assisted treatment to support counseling for those struggling with substance use disorder.

The new program is made possible through state grants. The RV will bring evidence-based treatment to medically under-served, rural communities in several of our counties.

“Some of our highest fatalities from overdose are in our rural areas, and a lot of that has to do with the fact that they can’t access care, and so when we did this initiative, it was set out solely to help those individuals, in those areas to be able to get the care that they want and that they need,” explained Dr. Deja Gilbert the President and CEO of Gaudenzia.

The unveiling was held at Alvernia University, one of the project’s community partners.

The only way for this too work, the person that is addicted too alcohol or drugs has too realize it themselves and seek the help they need. When they finally lose trust in family, friends and no one wants anything too do with them, that is when they realize it. You will still have other addicts, that gave up. Pray and hope they seek the help they need.
