Berkeley’s Nuevo Sol Is Reopening as Taqueria Sol

According to a recently submitted permit application, the shuttered concept Nuevo Sol in Berkeley is reopening under new ownership — and will be renamed Taqueria Sol .

At 1335 San Pablo Avenue , the eatery neighbors establishments such as Dog Haus Biergarten, REI, and Super Super Pho.

What Now San Francisco reached out to the concept’s new owner, Pedro Morales , to inquire about the transition, but he could not provide additional information before publication.

Berkeley residents may remember Nuevo Sol for its breakfast platters — think chilaquiles, chorizo potato pancakes, and huevos divorciados — and lunch options such as flautas, enchiladas, and burritos.

While it’s unclear how the menu will change, drawing from the concept’s new name, tacos will likely remain a main offering.
