'Doubling Down With the Derricos' Deon Gives Health Update on GG Amid Her Cancer Battle (Exclusive)

In Season 5 of Doubling Down With the Derricos , Deon 's mother, Marian "GG" Derrico , announced her decision to stop chemotherapy treatment. Now, Deon has offered a health update on his mom as she continues to battle lung cancer.

During an exclusive interview with Parade , the father of 14 spoke about how GG, 74, is doing in real time. He began by expressing gratitude to TLC viewers.

"Thank you to all the fans for their many, many prayers," he said. "We are inundated with prayers from across the country and the world as far as that goes. Everyone loves GG, she's a fan favorite."

Deon explained that it's been "very challenging navigating through the many changes" of his mom's health—and that he "couldn't get through it without the prayers."

He continued: "GG, now she's still just dealing with the residual effects of the chemo. So she still has good days and bad days. You know, she has days when I'm asking God like, ‘God, what now?’ And then she has days, I said, ‘Oh my, you know you're looking pretty good today.’"

During his chat with Parade , Deon noted that how GG feels "is just a day-to-day thing" right now.

"I don't know when we will be to a point—and I hope soon—but I don't know when we'll be to a point where I'm able to really relax and not have it constantly as a cloud, if you will, over me," he confessed.

“So all I can say is GG, thank God, is alive,” Deon added. “But she still has to take it very easy.”
