    Excessive Heat Watch Issued for Ohio Valley

    WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) – The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued an Excessive Heat Watch for The Ohio River Valley.

    This includes Brooke, Hancock, Ohio, Marshall, Wetzel, and Tyler Counties in West Virginia, and Belmont, Jefferson, Columbiana, Harrison, Monroe, Guernsey, and Noble Counties in Ohio.

    The watch goes into effect Monday and will expire Friday, June 21.

    The historic and potentially dangerous heat wave will allow heat index values to soar into the triple digits.

    The last time The NWS issued an Excessive Heat Watch for the region, you have to go back to July of 2019.

    So these events must be taken seriously and limit time outdoors, especially during peak heating hours of 12 PM through 4 PM.
