Shocking footage has emerged showing a young boy being booted off a plane for not wearing his seatbelt.

The incident occurred on Latam flight 4049 from Santa Marta to Bogota in Colombia, when the 10 year old boy wouldn't listen to the cabin crew's instructions. Consequently, the captain had to abandon takeoff and head back to the gate to have the child removed.

Witnesses on the flight reported that the boy was adamant about not wanting to sit down or strap in. The kerfuffle caused over an hour's delay for the 8.20am service at Simon Bolivar International Airport.

A clip uploaded to X, previously known as Twitter, captures irate passengers demanding the removal of the youngster and urging staff to "do something".

Also featured in the video is a child getting increasingly agitated by the hold-up, while adults around are seen trying to soothe the situation. This same toddler was later escorted off the aircraft, with El Colombiano stating this was the very boy who had refused to fasten his seatbelt.

In a bid to keep travellers in the loop, one of the crew announced via the PA system: "Dear passengers, we inform you that if the flight regulations are not complied with, we cannot start the flight. They were not complied with, we had to return. And now we are waiting for the passengers who did not comply with the regulations to please disembark. We cannot start the flight this way due to safety."

Passengers lost patience and started yelling at a boy's father, urging them to leave the aircraft swiftly, according to MailOnline. Eventually, an airport staff member boarded, and the father picked up his youngster and departed.

While several passengers agreed with the decision to escort the dad and lad off, one voice argued in the background, "He has rights, it's a child."

Previously, back in May, disruption unfolded when a Frontier Airlines traveller wouldnt heed exit row safety briefings, leading to an offloading of all flyers. A month or so earlier, uproar ensued on Spirit Airlineswhen a female flier prepped to fly out from Las Vegas had a severe tantrum, even trying to nip another passenger.

Said woman gave police officers an earful, hurling racial slurs as they took her off the emptied aircraft.
