He’s got a passenger. Lampreys are a weird creature that are eel-like in appearance, except for their mouth. These creepy fish have jawless mouths, that are circular and have rows of sharp teeth. The mouth acts like a suction cup to attach to their hosts. When attached these lampreys bore a hole into their prey and pretty much suck out blood and fluids to feed on them. Lampreys will attach themselves to pretty much any fish they can, and while they might not kill their victims, they can leave damaging wounds. Largemouth bass are no different than any other fish in this matter. This fisherman caught himself a nice bass but discovered it had something else attached. The lamprey is seen stuck to the back of the bass and this guy has himself a 2-for-1 catch.
"Ever seen a bass with one of these? First time catching a largemouth bass with a lamprey. Figured I’d do the bass a solid and free him from it. It’s funny the bass would probably eat this guy if he got the chance." The lamprey left a pretty nasty wound, but the fish should be ok going forward: https://www.instagram.com/p/C7HHlAMrkIO/
