Edmundite Missions was awarded the 2024 Nonprofit of the Year Award by The Nonprofit Alliance Catholic Development Council.

This prestigious recognition celebrates the missions’ 87-year commitment to serving the poorest of the poor in one of America’s most deeply impoverished regions, the Deep South.

The Nonprofit Alliance is a national membership organization that was formed in 2018 as a unifying voice to promote, protect and strengthen the nonprofit sector. The Nonprofit Alliance is one of the most influential and trusted voices in the nonprofit sector.

In presenting the award, Aby Graf, the Nonprofit Alliance’s vice president of programs, noted the powerful impact of the Missions’ work.

“Edmundite Missions lives its core values of compassion, service, and social justice every day,” Graf said. “The 2024 Nonprofit of the Year Award is a testament to the organization’s innovative and impactful work which addresses the urgent needs of the poor today, while helping individuals find their own, permanent paths out of poverty.”

Chad McEachern, president and CEO of Edmundite Missions, expressed his gratitude.

“We are deeply honored to receive the 2024 Nonprofit of the Year Award,” McEachern said. “Since our earliest days, the Missions has adhered to the pledge made by our founder, Father Frank Casey, to ‘do the best we can, with what little we have, to help those most in need.’ This award is a moving testament to the dedication of our staff, volunteers and especially the caring supporters who make our work possible.”

Founded in 1937, Edmundite Missions has provided vital services such as food assistance, housing support, healthcare,  education and spiritual guidance to individuals and families in need in Selma. The organization’s approach to addressing the root causes of poverty and inequality has earned it widespread acclaim and admiration.
