Where do you get the best french fries in Delaware?

Whether they are straight, shoestring, curly, waffle- or crinkle-cut, a hot, crispy, salty basket of french fries is hard to resist.

Maybe you like them best dipped in ketchup? Or perhaps doused with malt or apple cider vinegar as you sit on the beach and dodge dive-bombing seagulls? Or it could be you're really bougie and crave fries sprinkled with truffle oil and dusted with Parmesan cheese.

Taste may be subjective, but there's really no question that summer is the best time to indulge in delectable deep-fried potatoes. National French Fry Day is July 12, and french fries will likely have a role at the 2024 Summer Olympics taking place in Paris from July 26 to Aug. 11.

We want to know your pick for the best Delaware french fry destination. (No national chains, please.)

To get this ball rolling, I'll start with one of my favorites: Thrasher's Fries , the beloved boardwalk snack that's been a summer tradition since 1929. Few things say summer in Rehoboth Beach to me than ordering a cup of piping hot, fresh-cut Idaho potatoes fried in peanut oil. Forget the ketchup, of course. Pass the vinegar. If you know, you know.

Another great place for "boardwalk fries" is the Lewes Oyster House. The restaurant on Second Street in downtown Lewes offers deep-fried fries with a variety of toppings ranging from pickle powder and ranch to lobster and sweet corn to caviar and chive.
