EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — A prolonged heat wave is likely heading for Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania this week.

Heat advisories are in effect for all of northeastern and central Pennsylvania for the next several days. Tuesday will have a mix of clouds and sunshine with a stray afternoon shower or storm possible.

However, most areas once again stay rain-free. It will be hot and humid with highs in the mid 90s (near-record high temperatures). Tuesday night will be mostly clear, warm, and muggy. Lows in the upper 60s.

Wednesday and Thursday will be generally sunny (a stray pop-up shower or storm is possible) and hot!

Highs in the mid 90s (near record high temperatures). There’s a slightly better chance for an afternoon shower or thunderstorm by Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Most of the time each day will be dry with a decent amount of sunshine.

Highs on Friday in the mid 90s, lower 90s for Saturday and Sunday. If you have to work outdoors in this high heat, be sure to take frequent breaks, stay hydrated, and limit strenuous activities during the hottest part of the day.
