    Victory League June 8-9

    Below are summaries of local Victory League games on Saturday, June 8 Sunday, June 9, compiled by Sports Editor Nick Tabatt.

    Bluejays

    The Upsala Bluejays battled Opole in a close home game, winning 3-2 in 10 innings. CJ Clear pitched one inning, throwing two strikeouts and allowed one hit. Matt Swanson pitched the remaining nine innings, throwing seven strikeouts and allowing six hits. Cohl Clear went 3-5 at the plate with one run batted in. Justin Cichon and Bryce Benik both hit a double.

    Skis

    The Sobieski Skis traveled on the road and shutout Flensburg 19-0 in seven innings. The Skis’ Matt Fillipi led the team, going 4-4 on the plate, having two RBIs and four runs. Beau Thoma had three RBIs and two runs. The Skis who hit a double in the game were Fillipi, Collin Kray, Jake Kapphahn, Hudson Fillipi, Zach Opatz and Owen Bode. The winning pitcher Collin Eckman threw six strikeouts on the mound and allowed two hits.

    Pierz Bulldogs

    The Pierz Bulldogs fell to Foley, losing 15-1. The Bulldogs’ hit a triple at the plate, along with a walk and a run. Reece Hubbard got on base, being hit by pitch and stole two bases.

    On the mound, Cody Weiss pitched two innings, allowing two walks and six hits. Michael Yanta allowed three walks and five hits. Link Toops threw one strikeout and allowed one hit.

    Randall Cubs

    The Randall Cubs hosted St. Stephen, unfortunately losing 10-5. The Cubs’ Zach Gwost went 2-3 at the plate, hitting a double and an RBI. Travis Wenzel earned a home run, an RBI and two runs. Matt Otremba went 3-5 at the plate, hitting two RBIs. Gwost and Wensel also threw two strikeouts each on the mound.

    Pierz Brewers

    The Pierz Brewers traveled to St. Mathias, walking away with 8-2 victory. Pete Schommer pitched five innings, only allowing two hits. Gunnar Wickland pitched five innings, allowing four hits and threw four strikeouts. Schommer and Ryan Stuckmayer each hit a double. Rylee Rauch earned three runs and two stolen bases.

    Billygoats victorious over Bulldogs and Riverdogs

    The Buckman Billygoats hosted the Pierz Bulldogs in a close game, winning 2-1. The Billygoats’ Ben Thoma pitched all nine innings, throwing 15 strikeouts. Matt Krummet went 2-3 at the plate, along with Noah Boser going 1-3 and hitting a double.

    The Bulldogs’ Teddy Dehler went 2-4 at the plate, with a double and a run. Deegan Beck went 1-3 and had one run batted in. Brayden Haberman pitched nine innings, throwing one strikeout and allowing four hits. Mason Herold pitched three innings, with two strikeouts.

    The Billy Goats also hosted the Royalton Riverdogs Saturday, June 8, beating them 10-1. Matt Taughtes led the pitching, throwing eight strikeouts and allowing five hits.The Billy goats with RBIs were Taughtes, Lane Girtz, Noah Boser, Thoma, Aaron Weber, Andrew Ruekert and Max Barclay.

    The Riverdogs’ Nathan Psyck threw three strikeouts on the mound, along with Nick Henry throwing two strikeouts and Zach Liebold throwing one. Grayson Suska allowed five hits and one run. The Riverdogs’ batting results were not made to the Record by Press Time.
