We are heading into the season of summer blockbusters, and one of the heavy hitter flicks people have eyes on is Fede Alvarez's Alien: Romulus .

Starring Cailee Spaeny as Rain Carradine, the film follows a group of young space colonizers who — while patrolling an abandoned spacecraft — come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe.

Isabela Merced, Archie Renaux, David Jonsson, Aileen Wu and Spike Fearn join Spaeny to make up the ensemble crew of this highly anticipated addition to the world built by renowned directors such as Ridley Scott and James Cameron.

Film Updates has shared a video which shows Alvarez discussing his desire for the set of Alien: Romulus to be as practical as it could.

"If it can be done practical, it will be done practical," Alvarez said. "It's almost like a play. Most things are real. The sets there, there's no green screen. I don't want to see green screens. That whole set — you've seen that shot where they come out of the airlock — it's all real. Everything you see. That set, you could've got lost inside of it."

Earlier in the video, Alvarez spoke about Hollywood's use of CG, saying, "Hollywood can be sometimes very lazy".

"When they do it CG, it's not because it's cheaper. It's not. It's actually more expensive. It's just quicker. It saves you a headache on set," Alvarez continued.

The director also spoke about his preference for practical sets, saying he got into the art to make things feel real for the audience, expressing his wish for them to see what he sees when on set.

Audiences will get that chance on August 16 when Alien: Romulus lands in theaters.
