Indian River Clay will open its studio to community potters to make bowls for the thirty-second annual Samaritan Center Soup Bowl, returning November 7.

The goal is to donate 1,000 bowls to the Samaritan Center, which sells them to raise money for its transitional housing facility for homeless families in Indian River County.

All wheel throwers and hand builders are welcome to make bowls. Registration is not required. Clay and glazes will be provided, but potters are asked to bring their own tools. Bowls will need to be at least five inches in diameter after being bisqued.

Potters are invited to make and trim bowls on July 20, from noon to 6 p.m.; July 21, from noon to 6 p.m.; July 22, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.; July 27, from noon to 6 p.m.; or July 28, from noon to 6 p.m. Participants will return to glaze their creations on August 24, from noon to 6 p.m.; August 25, from noon to 6 p.m.; or August 26, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
