At Tuesday's meeting, the Wichita City Council will consider a change in the City's Drought Relief Plan. Mayor Lily Wu tells KNSS News the City wants to encourage citizens to conserve water now, and delay the Stage 2 mandatory controls. The City is now at Stage 1 and staff tells her the Plan will go to Stage 2 this summer. The change would allow City staff to make the decision on implementing Stage 2, rather than the current automatic "trigger" based on water levels at Cheney Reservoir, which provides most of Wichita's water.

Mayor Wu also says the City is sponsoring a Unity in the Community Rally for Peace Saturday at 10:00 am, at 21st and Opportunity Drive in northeast Wichita. Mayor Wu says a free lunch will be provided, as the City looks for ways to combat violence.

Wu commented during Mondays with the Mayor on the Steve and Ted in the Morning Show on KNSS.
