Original Blade Star Enters the Discourse on New Film

The original Blade has entered the discourse surrounding the upcoming MCU film starring Mahershala Ali, which is taking its sweet time getting off the ground at Marvel Studios.

Wesley Snipes has taken to X (formerly known as Twitter) to chuck his two cents in about director Yann Demange departing the project.

Snipes said "Blade, lordylordylordy folks still lookin for the secret sauce, ridin snowmobiles in traffic, kinda rough. Daywalkers make it look easy, don’t they? #DaywalkerKlique #Blade #Marvel "

Snipes portrayed the famous half-vampire half-human in the 1998 Stephen Norrington film written by veteran superhero screenwriter David S. Goyer, whose other credits include co-writing the Christopher Nolan-directed Batman trilogy.

Goyer will not return for the Mahershala Ali-led film.

Instead, the writers credited on this edition's screenplay include Michael Starrbury, Stacy Osei-Kuffour, Michael Green, and Nic Pizzolatto, with Gene Colan and Marv Wolfman credited for the characters.

Joining Ali in the cast are Mia Goth and Delroy Lindo, but beyond that, the project is in a limbo state, with no director and no further updates to share.

In December 2023, Ali broke his silence on the film but offered little to suggest that the project would be getting underway anytime soon.

Nonetheless, it remains scheduled for a 2025 release.
