DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — County fairs across nearly all Miami Valley counties received more than $100,000 each for improvements.

The one Miami Valley county that didn’t receive any funding was Wayne County.

Each county’s agricultural society received $106,831.54 in funding for projects to help the fairgrounds and improve experiences for visitors.

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine said it is important to help fund the fairs, since they are well-known traditions across the state.

“These improvements will ensure that our fairgrounds remain safe and accessible for everyone,” DeWine said.

Some of the improvements the grants will assist with across Ohio:

    • ADA accessibility
    • Dilapidated buildings
    • Grandstands
    • Parking and camping sites
    • Restroom facilities

Improvements to directional and traffic signage, electrical and lighting are also projects that will be made possible through funding.
