FARMERSBURG, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Wabash Valley Community Foundation has announced the winners of 147 scholarships in Clay, Sullivan, and Vigo Counties.
The awards represent $1,104,927 in funding for higher education for local students attending the 2024-2025 academic year.
“The Community Foundation is honored to be a part of the future educational journey of these students,” Wabash Valley Community Foundation President & CEO Beth Tevlin said. “The scholarship awards represent our community’s commitment to each student’s educational pursuits to become productive and independent citizens.”
Veteran reveals lifelong secret in obituary, allowing him to ‘forever rest in peace’ Tevlin praised the students and said if the funding had been available, even more applicants could have been awarded.
“These recipients are bright, active and goal-oriented individuals,” Tevlin continued. “Only the
lack of available scholarship funds prevented, the Community Foundation from doubling the
number of students receiving scholarship awards.”
Additionally, the WVCF recommended four students for the 2024 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship for Clay, Sullivan, and Vigo Counties. Those students were Alexis Thompson (Clay City HS), Sarah Francis (Sullivan HS), Abigail McKenzie (South Vigo HS), and Carli Tryon (South Vigo HS).
Scholarships through the Wabash Valley Community Foundation are available for graduating
seniors, as well as for students currently enrolled in college and/or other post-secondary
programs. The scholarship application for the 2025-2026 academic year will open on July 2,
2024, via wvcf.org . For more information about the organization, its scholarships, or how to fund a scholarship call 812-232-2234.
